For over 50 years we have been supplying color vision testing devices and kits to quickly and easily detect and categorize color vision deficiencies. Our screening products provide rapid, immediate screening results that are valuable to the eyecare professional and patient alike.
I am excited to report on a new “higher tech” colorblindness molecular genetic testing advance. Genevolve Vision Diagnostics Inc. has developed a non-invasive molecular diagnostic for all major forms of congenital color blindness. Eyedox™ is the first totally objective color vision test that can consistently separate colorblind individuals from those with normal color vision and accurately classify color vision deficiencies. In addition, it can accurately test children as young as six months old.
According to Matt Lemelin, Genevolve president “The new test is a game-changer; it is a revolutionary improvement in color vision testing.” The Eyedox test uses a non-invasive cell collector to pick up cells sloughed daily from the lining of the mouth. The DNA goes to a CLIA certified laboratory where the color genes, which are expressed in the eye but are present in all cells, are analyzed to give both a precise identification and an accurate classification of any inherited color vision deficiency.
Our screening tools are great for immediate, rapid, easy, and economical evaluations. For genetic testing, eye care professionals can specify the Eyedox test and their patients might possibly participate in treatment clinical trials underway by going to the Eyedox website: http://www.genevolve.com/genetic-test-gulden.html
A final note: Be sure to review our portfolio of proven products that include the Ishihara Color Testing Book; HRR (Hardy Rand and Rittler) Pseudoisochromatic Plates; Farnsworth Dichotomous D-15 and the Farnsworth-Lanthony Combined D-15 Test; and our latest product, the new C Daylight™ Glasses-and-Lamp Kit, that provides everything you need to optimize colorblindness testing and evaluation.
