The new silicone eye spheres permit retention sutures to be optimally placed by the ophthalmic surgeon
ELKINS PARK, PA – Gulden Ophthalmics has added a new line of silicone eye spheres to its extensive product lines of eye spheres and conformers. The new solid – without perforations – eye spheres are precision products constructed of medical-grade silicone. They permit retention sutures to be placed into the eye sphere and the eye orbit and musculature as best determined by the surgeon, without having to conform to pre-determined perforations in the sphere.
The new eye spheres:
- Can be sterilized by autoclave, ethylene oxide, and most other sterilization methods
- Are very convenient to use
- Are available in a wide range of sizes – 12 to 22 mm in even number increments
- Are very competitively priced – a good value.
Surgical enucleation of the eye often results when it is severely damaged by trauma or disease. Gulden’s eye spheres are permanent implants that maintain the contour of the eye for possible prosthesis, maintain eye movements, and help maintain the shape of the eye socket.
