Gulden’s New Vision Threatening Disease (VTD) Eye Model

VTD Eye Model

The new Gulden Vision Threatening Disease (VTD) Eye Model helps eye care professionals and instructors effectively explain and discuss AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma and their effect on patients’ vision. It additionally serves as a valuable teaching tool.

Quickly and Effectively Demonstrates Three Common Eye Diseases and Their Effect on Vision

ELKINS PARK, PA – Gulden Ophthalmics has introduced a new, very effective Vision Threatening Disease (VTD) Eye Model. It is a valuable tool in helping eye care professionals explain the three of the most common eye conditions that seriously threaten a patient’s vision – age-related macular degeneration (AMD), composite diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. These conditions that threaten patients’ vision are being seen more commonly, either together, two at a time, or singularly as the baby boomer population ages and as diabetes becomes more prevalent in all populations. In addition, the new VTD Eye Model is an effective teaching and prevention tool for optometric, ophthalmic, and general medical instruction in the classroom, at conferences, and health fairs. The eye model, being portable and hands on, is more effective than posters and diagrams.

The eye care professional or instructor can bring the model to the patient or student and demonstrate the diseases in three dimensions, as opposed to stationary posters that are hung on the office or classroom wall.

The realistic, brightly colored model of the human eye demonstrates the basic elements and features. It shows a portion of the eye in cross section and its three layers: the retina, the choroid, and the sclera as well as the veins and arteries, including the central retinal vein. The VTD Eye Model opens the door with patients to discus the eye and the concerns about the three diseases and other eye related issues. The model clearly shows the patient or student how the diseases actually appear in the eye and what effect they have on vision, saving the eye care professional time and helping to eliminate any misunderstandings or erroneous assumptions.

The eye model is constructed of durable, long life plastic, measures four inches in diameter, and is mounted on a sturdy, opaque, plastic base.
